Import Completed Translations

The Import Completed Translations feature allows you to bring finalized translations into the system for a specific page. This process ensures that all language-specific content is updated accurately based on your predefined settings.

How It Works

1. Locale Mapping Settings:

   • The system relies on a locale mapping setting to determine how languages are mapped during the import process.
   • This mapping is completely customizable and allows you to define how source languages should map to target languages.
   • For example, you might define:
     • zh-TW (Traditional Chinese) maps to zh (a simplified representation).
     • da (Danish) maps to both da-A and da-B (regional variants).
   • Important: These are just examples. The locale mapping can handle any structure that fits your organization’s needs.

2. Translation Updates:

   • When you initiate an import, the system retrieves the current locale mapping from your settings.
   • Translations are updated in the system for the specified page using this mapping.
   • If a mapping defines multiple targets for a single language (e.g., da → da-A, da-B), the same translation text will be applied to all defined targets.

3. Error Handling:

   • If a translation is missing or cannot be mapped, the system skips it and logs the issue for your review.
   • You will receive a report showing:
     • A list of successfully updated translations.
     • Any errors or missing translations encountered.

Example: Locale Mapping in Action

Here’s a practical example of how the locale mapping and translation import work:

zh-TW:

Existing Translation

Imagine the system contains the following completed translation:

• Language: da (Danish)
• Translation Text: "Velkommen" (Welcome)

Result of Import

Using the above locale mapping:

• The translation "Velkommen" will be mapped and saved to both da-A and da-B in the system.
• This means:
  • The key da-A will have the value "Velkommen".
  • The key da-B will have the value "Velkommen".

If no locale mapping were provided for da, the system would simply save it under the original key (da).

• Flexibility: The locale mapping setting can handle complex structures, including one-to-many and many-to-one relationships between languages.
